Steffen Faas unlucky in Most

Shortly after the summer break the fourth race of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship took place. Kicking off the second part of the season with Most in the Czech Republic as the venue hosting a race with several ups and downs. The conditions, changing frequently between a wet and a dry surface, were a good foretaste for what was to come on Saturday.

During the final practice on Friday, the drivers had to wrestle with these changeable weather conditions as Steffen Faas worked himself into a good position with his Scania truck.

Starting from position 13 and facing extremely difficult driving conditions on the wet and slippery track, Steffen tried to not scramble with the other cars and avoided any overtaking manoeuvres. Alas, this cautious approach was not rewarded and he had to drop out of the race due to a technical issue. This meant that he would start the second part of the race the following day from the last row. The Scania truck fought his way through the field to 13th which can be regarded as a decent result given the circumstances.

Sunday’s qualifying did not go too well despite improved weather conditions. Steffen Faas had to make do with starting position 14 for the first race later that day where he also finished in 14th place.

The Scania team showed ambition for the final race but managed to only finish in 11th place.

“We could have done better to be brutally honest but in the end the really difficult circumstances on Saturday just did not help in any way”, as Steffen Faas recapped the race.
