Steffen Faas‘ Scania truck clinches four podium finishes

In the sixth race of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship Season which was held in Le Mans, Scania driver Steffen Faas managed to finish on the Goodyear podium on all four races. In front of a crowd of 48.000 quite a formidable achievement. After having secured sixth place in the qualifying, Steffen Faas had to content himself with finishing in 8th which nonetheless helped him finish in 3rd place in the Goodyear Cup, hence also snatching the pole position for the second race thanks to the reverse grid rule.

On a very wet track Steffen Faas worked hard to ward off the other drivers and held on to first place for a long period but as the track dried gradually, the Scania truck whose set-up was not ideal for these conditions, Faas fell back to sixth place which was still enough to guarantee a Goodyear Cup podium finish.

On Sunday, with changeable weather conditions in Le Mans, Steffen Faas got caught out and finished in 11th place in the qualifying and managed to move up to 10th place during the following race, again finishing on the Goodyear podium.

The final race was exciting to watch and after initially scrambling with a group of drivers and managing to stay in 7th place, he eventually had to live with finishing 10th, which at least helped him reach his fourth consecutive podium finish in the Goodyear Cup.

“We are relieved to have achieved four podium finishes here in Le Mans given the extreme conditions that we faced here and frankly I would not have expected that beforehand. It is still a work in progress as we keep tinkering with our Scania set-up and are therefore happy to have made great strides again”, Steffen Faas is quoted as saying after the race weekend.
