Podium at Le Mans

The sixth round of the European Truck Racing Championship in Le Mans delivered an exciting weekend for the racing team, led by Black Forest Scania driver Steffen Faas. More than 80,000 fans gathered at the Circuit Bugatti to witness high-octane truck racing action along with a massive trucker festival.

During Saturday’s qualifying session, Steffen posted the eighth-fastest lap and went on to secure a well-deserved third place in the Chromerace, marking his first podium finish of the weekend in the Chrome classification. In Saturday’s second race, the French fans were treated to intense battles on the track. Once again, Steffen delivered a top-tier performance, claiming another third place in the Chrome Championship.

Sunday morning brought an unexpected challenge for the Black Forest driver. After his first flying lap in the second qualifying session, a brake disc on his Scania race truck broke. Despite the setback, the racing team pulled off the seemingly impossible, replacing the brake disc during qualifying. Given the circumstances, Steffen was reasonably satisfied with his 12th-place starting position. Although he managed to gain several positions in both of Sunday’s races, another podium finish eluded him.

“It was an incredibly intense weekend here in Le Mans,” Steffen reflected on Sunday evening. “In front of more than 80,000 spectators, we managed to finish on the podium twice on Saturday. Unfortunately, on Sunday, the broken brake disc hampered our chances, but a huge thank you to my team for changing it in record time and saving our qualifying.”

For the racing team, the journey goes directly from Le Mans to Madrid, where the final round of the European Truck Racing Championship is scheduled.
