The Historic Acropolis Rally 2023 will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the prestigious World Rally Championship. This edition will revive traditional special stages from past Acropolis Rallies. Returning to the FIA European Historic Rally Championship, the event will take place from November 3rd to 5th, with Itea serving as its base.
We are happy to announce that Andonis Ganos, our Mabanol representative from Thessaloniki, will be taking part in the Classic Akropolis Rally as a Mabanol partner. Andonis is the owner of Gkanos Lubricants, a family-run business that has been active in the wholesale of lubricants since 1969, becoming a Mabanol distributor in 2014. As an avid racing enthusiast, he is taking part in the Historic Rally Acropolis for the ninth time. Andonis has worked with a team of car mechanics to retrofit and tune a 1982 Mercedes SL 500 to the point where it can successfully compete in the rally.
The opening ceremony on November 3rd, right beneath the Acropolis, will lead participants to the first stage in Dervenochoria, called "Skourta." Following sections include "Thiva" and "Elikonas," followed by a regrouping in Itea and a thrilling night race called "Bauxites."
The second day's route will take the competitors to Livadi for the tough "Parnassos" stage, then to Amfissa for the "Prosilio" stage, and finally back to "Bauxites." The day will conclude with the captivating nighttime stage show "Karoutes."
On the third day, the route will pass through Distomo for the scenic "Steiri" stage and the picturesque village of Analipsi for the breathtaking "Livadia" stage. The rally will then repeat the 'Thiva' stage and finish with the thrilling 'Dafnoula'. After a total of 14 stages, the rally will introduce a new feature: the awards ceremony will take place in Elefsina.
The Historic Acropolis Rally 2023 promises to be an exhilarating anniversary event that pays homage to the illustrious history of this Greek rally.
We wish Andonis the best of luck in the upcoming race.
