Hot, hotter, truck racing in Most - that’s a perfect way to sum up the fifth round of the European Truck Racing Championship on the traditional Czech circuit. With two podium finishes in the Chrome classification, Scania pilot Steffen Faas from the racing team was right in the thick of the action and had a varied weekend.
In the first qualifying session, Steffen’s best times were unfortunately disallowed, forcing him to settle for 12th place on the grid for the first race. He got off to a good start, made up positions as the race progressed, and narrowly missed out on the Chrome podium by less than a second.
The racing team driver continued to make progress in the second race, where he was finally able to celebrate a great second place in the Chrome classification.
At the start of the second qualifying session, Steffen immediately showed with a great lap that he was once again a force to be reckoned with. However, a small problem with the steering threw a spanner in the works. As a result, the Scania missed the second part of qualifying and had to start the third race from the back of the field. Despite this setback, Steffen managed to fight his way forward, although the Black Forest driver was unable to do much more.
The final race of the weekend, however, was all the more pleasing. After an action-packed race, Steffen secured third place in the Chrome classification, finishing on the podium for the second time that weekend.
“That was a bit of a crazy weekend,” Steffen summed up on Sunday evening. “Unfortunately, we were unlucky in both qualifying sessions, and then we also had some bad luck. So it’s all the nicer that we were able to fight our way forward in the races and celebrate two more podium finishes.”
The racing team will head to Le Mans at the end of September for the penultimate race of the season.
